TEC can be used to extract emails in 5 ways from search results and web site, dir, group:

Key words: TEC email extractor spiders major search engines for right web sites and get e-mails from them.

Quick Start:

Select "Search Engines" source - Enter keyword - Click OK

What TEC Does: TEC email grabber will query popular search engines, extract all matching URLs from search results, remove duplicate URLs and finally visits those websites and extract emails from there.

You can tell TEC how many search engines to use. Click "Engines" button and uncheck listing that you do not want to use. You can add other engine sources as well.

This email address extractor send queries to search engines to get matching website URLs. Next it visits those matching websites for email extraction. How many deep it spiders in the matching websites depends on "Depth" setting of "External Site" tab.

Advanced version of this email address extractor supports multiple keywords search. 

WebSites: Enter website URL and extract all emails found in that site.

Quick Start:
Select 2nd option "WebSite/Dir/Groups" - Enter website URL - Select Depth - Click OK

What TEC Does: TEC email spider will retrieve html/text pages of the website according to the Depth you specified and extract all email addresses found in those pages.

Directories: Choose yahoo, google or other directory and get all e-mails from there.

Quick Start & What TEC Does:

Lets say you want to extract email addresses of all companies listed at
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Freeware/

Action #1A: Select 2nd option "WebSite/Dir/Groups" - enter this URL in "Starting Address" box - 
select "Process First Page Only"

Or, lets say you want to extract e-mail addresses of all companies listed at
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Freeware/
plus all down level folders like
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Freeware/windows
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Freeware/windows/browser
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Freeware/linux
etc....

Action #1B: Select 2nd option "WebSite/Dir/Groups" -
enter URL http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Freeware/ in "Starting Address" box -
select Depth=0 and "Stay within Full URL" option.

With these actions TEC email hunter will download http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Freeware/
page and optionally all down level pages and will build a URLs list of companies listed there.

Now you want TEC to visit all those URLs and extract all emails found in those sites.
Action #2: So after either above action you must move to "External Site" tab and check "Follow External URLs" option. (Remember: this setting tells TEC to process/follow/visit all URLs found while processing "Starting Address" of "General" tab).

News Groups: Web based newsgroups spider and extraction.

Groups are another source for huge target emails. Groups pages are generally dynamic pages, created only upon request, they are not actually exist as files sitting on servers. One of great TEC feature is - it can download and process dynamic pages.

Quick Start & What TEC Does:

Lets say, you want to extract all emails found in following group:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&group=alt.brewing

Action #1: Select 2nd option "WebSite/Dir/Groups" - enter above URL - select Depth - click OK

Depth selection works exactly as it is with above type of sessions. However there is problem for TEC to understand depth accurately, because google groups consist of highly dynamic pages. No way to understand for TEC email collector the depth or which group it is spidering now - by parsing URLs like below:

So we suggest Action #2:
~Set Depth=0
~Enter /groups? in "URL Filter - Include" box. This restricts TEC to stay only with in group files, not other pages of google.
~Manually check the extracted pages in main TEC screen. If you see TEC is now spidering pages like alt.computer then stop extraction.
(Remember - you can not set include filter like "alt.brewing", because all pages of this group may not necessarily have this "alt.brewing" text, like above 2 URLs.)

List of URL: Enter hundreds/thousands of URLs to extract e-mails found on those sites.

Quick Start:
Select 3rd option "URLs from File" - Enter file name that contains all URLs list - Select Depth - Click OK

What TEC Does: TEC will scan the contents of specified file. This file must have URL line-by-line, other format is not supported, TEC will accept only lines that starts with http:// text. Also it will not accept URLs that point to image/binary files, because those files will not have any emails.

After building unique URL list form above file, TEC will process website one-by-one for e-mail extraction according to the depth you specify.
